About me
WHO AM I?
As an Ayurvedic lifestyle therapist, I guide people in their quest for greater balance and health.
I help them regain control of their health, with a natural approach that suits them and delivers lasting results.
We do not just look at the symptoms, but also at the cause of the complaints so that we can work on recovery in a very targeted manner.
My background:
- a higher professional education (HBO) training as an Ayurvedic Practitioner, completed at EISRA (the European Institute of Scientific Research on Ayurveda)
- an SHO Registered Medical Basic Knowledge Training
- a training as an Orthomolecular advisor at the Ortho Health Foundation
- Reiki first and second degree at Healing Space
MY OWN WAY
I know from experience what it feels like to be out of balance: constantly tired, poor sleep, unexplained pain, binge eating, skin problems, emotional outbursts.
In July 2018, I was back at work for the umpteenth time with shoulder pain, a swollen wrist, and sore fingers. Despite all the warnings, I was, of course, working as usual, but that day my manager insisted I see my doctor. I had to go straight to the hospital for a blood test, and that same afternoon, I was told that high inflammation levels had been found in my blood.
A few weeks later, I was told I had rheumatoid arthritis—an autoimmune disease that literally inflames everything in the body. After months of denial, I couldn't ignore it any longer.
A course of hospital visits and heavy medication followed, and eventually the pain subsided, but the side effects were serious. I was constantly tired, had stomach aches, a rash on my skin, and my hair fell out.
According to the rheumatologist, I had no other choice. With an autoimmune disease, I would have to continue taking medication for the rest of my life.
I refused to believe this was it and started looking for an alternative. That turned out to be Ayurveda.

HOW EVERYTHING CHANGED
I started seeing an Ayurvedic therapist, and it completely changed my life. Not immediately, because Ayurveda doesn't offer quick fixes, but after a few months, I slowly began to notice a change in my body.
I found this so special that I delved deeper into the magic of Ayurveda. I started reading, couldn't put it down, and enrolled in Ayurvedic practitioner training, including an internship in India. It was the best decision I could have made at the time!
I discovered that I had a lot of vata (the elements of air and ether) in my constitution, which explained why I hate the cold, but also why it is extra important for me to build routines into my days.
I learned how to calm my busy mind with meditation and breathing exercises, and I faithfully started every morning with my tongue scraper.
But the best part is that I have been able to get my rheumatism and intestines under control through an Ayurvedic lifestyle.
No more pain, my skin is healthy, I have more than enough energy and my hair has grown back completely.

I've learned how body, mind, and soul work together and that a chronic illness isn't something that just "appears" overnight. It's a process that takes years, and our bodies will regularly send signals when things aren't going well. These signals start small, but they will become increasingly stronger if you don't listen and take action.
" If you listen to your body when it whispers, it never has to scream"
I now know my body well enough to recognize the signs when I haven't been taking good care of myself. And I now also know what I can do to restore balance. With simple adjustments to my diet and lifestyle, I can ensure that balance returns and my body can heal itself.
I try as much as possible to live in a way that's good for me, but I'm not perfect, so it doesn't always work out. I still enjoy cake, fries with mayo and peanut sauce, and good coffee. But I've found my own balance in this...and that feels really good!

With AyurVita, I want to share Ayurvedic principles in a way that fits our modern lives, without compromising the essence of Ayurveda. From my own experience, I know how important it is to live in a way that suits you, but I also know how difficult it is to break old habits.
By starting with small adjustments and noticing what this does for you, it will naturally become easier.
Believe me. That's how it started for me too.
